Colorado won 55 games and 121 points this season — the best record in hockey, the Presidents' Trophy, and a team that looked, for six months, like the kind of juggernaut you tell your grandkids about. None of that matters tonight.

Vegas leads 3-0. The Golden Knights erased a three-goal deficit in Game 3, scoring five unanswered — their fourth third-period comeback this postseason, a franchise playoff record. In NHL history, teams trailing 3-0 in a best-of-seven have overcome the deficit exactly four times out of roughly 200 opportunities. The math is extinction-level.

And yet the Avalanche are the moneyline favorite tonight. Colorado is -115 at DraftKings, Vegas -105. The market says this is essentially a coin flip on any individual game — it also believes Colorado has run into three consecutive coins landing tails. Cale Makar returned in Game 3 and played 27:14 but couldn't stop the hemorrhage. Nathan MacKinnon's availability remains uncertain after the Game 3 loss. What's worth watching: whether the Avalanche's regular-season identity — the one that produced a 29-7-5 road record — shows up one more time, or whether the Knights' third-period sorcery has permanently altered the series' psychology.

Victor Wembanyama posted 33 points on 11-of-22 shooting in Game 4 and the Spurs held Oklahoma City to 33% from the field and 6-for-33 from three — the Thunder's second-lowest postseason total. San Antonio won 103-82. It wasn't competitive after the first quarter.

Oklahoma City's home record this season is 34-7 — best in the NBA. But the Thunder are dealing with significant injury uncertainty: Jalen Williams (hamstring) and Ajay Mitchell (calf) both missed Game 4, and Alex Caruso was scoreless in 14 minutes. De'Aaron Fox, who missed Game 1 with a right ankle injury, has returned and looked increasingly comfortable — his 12-10-5 double-double in Game 4 was quiet and effective.

The number that matters: San Antonio hasn't lost three consecutive games all season. They dropped Games 2 and 3 in OKC. The historical pattern says Game 5 is when the Spurs dig in. The question is whether Shai Gilgeous-Alexander — who posted arguably his worst playoff effort in Game 4 with 19 points and 4 turnovers — has a response, or whether the Spurs' defensive blueprint has genuinely cracked the code.

The Tampa Bay Rays' record over their last 25 games — tied for the best 25-game stretch in franchise history. They've won 15 of 18 since May 1, own MLB's best record at 34-17, and have completed a league-leading six sweeps. They're at Camden Yards tonight (Jax vs. Baz, TB -115). On pace for 108 wins. Don't confuse a small market with small ambitions.

Oracle Doesn't Play Like Oracle Tonight

The evening wind forecast at Oracle Park: 19+ mph off the Bay, building through the afternoon and peaking around first pitch. When wind exceeds 15 mph at Oracle, it's one of the most documented park effects in baseball — fly balls die in the marine layer and the park plays as one of the most extreme pitcher-friendly environments in the game.

Tonight it's Eduardo Rodriguez against Tyler Mahle, and the total sits at 8.0. Both pitchers carry flyball tendencies, which means the wind has a multiplied effect on contact quality. The market is aware that Oracle suppresses offense. The angle is whether 19 mph is priced differently than 10 mph in that same total.

3 questions. Tonight's slate. Tap to reveal.
Q1. The Golden Knights are trying to sweep the team that won the Presidents' Trophy. What does the Presidents' Trophy recognize?
Tap to reveal
The NHL team with the best regular-season record. Colorado earned it with 121 points (55-16-11).
Q2. Victor Wembanyama was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Before joining the Spurs, he played for what team?
Tap to reveal
Metropolitans 92 (Boulogne-Levallois) in France's Betclic Élite league.
Q3. Camden Yards, where the Rays play tonight, opened in 1992 and is widely credited with starting what trend in stadium architecture?
Tap to reveal
The retro/classic ballpark movement. Nearly every MLB stadium built after 1992 borrowed its brick-and-steel, asymmetric design language.
