Milwaukee's rotation has barely pitched in October. Across eight games the Brewers' starters have thrown 30⅓ innings, 3.8 a start, and the longest outing was 5.0. Relievers have covered 40⅔ of the staff's 71 innings, 57%, with a 1.33 ERA (6 earned runs). Game 1 starter Jacob Misiorowski needed 88 pitches to get 12 outs against San Diego on Oct. 3 and 94 to get 13 against the Dodgers on Oct. 11. He was 16-5 with a 1.80 ERA in the regular season (MLB Stats API, FanGraphs).
Tampa Bay has leaned on its starters more: 50 innings across nine starts, 5.6 a start, with Drew Rasmussen going eight on Oct. 3. Its relievers have the weaker October line, 3.60 ERA (12 earned runs in 30 innings). Game 1 starter Nick Martinez lasted 3⅔ innings and 63 pitches against the Yankees on Oct. 7 and 5⅓ and 79 against Cleveland on Oct. 17. The open question for both clubs is who pitches the sixth through the ninth. Milwaukee last played Oct. 15 and Tampa Bay Oct. 19.
The market has moved toward the Brewers. On the DraftKings line in ESPN's feed Milwaukee opened -160 and sits at -198, and the total opened at 6 and sits at 6.5. Across nine books the Brewers' moneyline runs -200 to -175 and all nine have the total at 6.5 (The Odds API). The home-plate umpire has not been posted.

Milwaukee is 7-1 in October, and its defense has been a leak anyway: 8 errors in 8 games, and 5 of the 21 runs it has allowed were unearned, 24%. Tampa Bay has made one error in nine games and every one of the 23 runs it has allowed was earned. That is new. In the regular season both clubs sat at 8.6%: 53 unearned runs of 618 for Milwaukee, 56 of 650 for Tampa Bay (MLB Stats API).
The shortstop spot is where it has come from. Cooper Pratt, 22, who debuted on June 16, has played all 71 postseason innings at short with 3 errors in 35 chances, a .914 fielding percentage, and is +1 in Outs Above Average for the year. Joey Ortiz, +16 in Outs Above Average, ninth-best on Baseball Savant's board, has played third base instead: 43 innings, no errors in 10 chances, and he is 2 for 17 at the plate. Milwaukee has not posted a Game 1 lineup (MLB Stats API, Baseball Savant).
Tampa Bay's gloves have been clean, including at third base, where Junior Caminero hit 42 home runs and sits at -12 in Outs Above Average, tied for the sixth-lowest on Savant's board. He has one error in 13 chances this October.

Barrels in 538 batted balls for Chandler Simpson. He hit .306 anyway.
The fewest of any hitter with 400 or more batted balls: 92 qualify, and the next lowest is Steven Kwan with 2 (Baseball Savant). He is also the only one of 135 qualified hitters with no home runs (MLB Stats API).
Simpson, Tampa Bay's left fielder, has 175 hits in 612 plate appearances, 46 stolen bases and 6 triples. His average exit velocity is 83.7 mph and 13.6% of his batted balls are hit 95 mph or harder. His .306 batting average sits 45 points above his .261 expected average, and his .305 wOBA is 42 points above his .263 xwOBA (Baseball Savant). In October he is 6 for 25 with 3 steals. Tampa Bay has not posted a lineup. The stat miner had no baseball angle above 6.0 today; this is a Savant league extreme.

Neither NC State nor Stanford Has Won a Road Game. One of Them Plays 2,390 Miles From Campus Tonight, at 10:30 PM on Its Own Clock.
10:30 PM ET / 7:30 PM PT · Stanford Stadium, Stanford, CA · 📺 ESPN
NC State @ Stanford · ACC · NCSU 3-3, STAN 3-4
The home-and-road records are a mirror. NC State is 3-1 at home and 0-2 away, losing 34-8 at Virginia on Aug. 29 and 35-31 at Vanderbilt on Sept. 19. Stanford is 3-1 at home and 0-3 away, and its road games went 35-7 at Duke, 57-3 at Wake Forest and 58-7 at Notre Dame, a 150-17 deficit in three games (ESPN schedules).
The geography is the part that is not symmetrical. Carter-Finley Stadium to Stanford Stadium is about 2,390 miles, three time zones, and the 7:30 PM PT kickoff is 10:30 PM on the East Coast clock (our great-circle calculation, ESPN). Open-Meteo has Palo Alto at 62°F with a 5 mph wind. That is a schedule fact, not a forecast of how either team plays; the books list NC State as the favorite anyway, at -6.5 on DraftKings and -6.8 across nine books.
